Add an AI chatbot to your WordPress site

Works with every theme, including block themes, and survives theme updates.
Copy your snippet from Convoro
In your Convoro dashboard, save your Business information first: the snippet needs your business ID. Then open Website Widget, set the name, colours and welcome message, and under Add it to your site click Copy.
You only paste it once. Changes you make in the dashboard later show up on your site without touching the code again.
Install a header-and-footer plugin
In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New Plugin and search for WPCode. Its directory listing is “WPCode – Insert Headers and Footers + Custom Code Snippets – WordPress Code Manager”, and it used to be called Insert Headers and Footers. Install and activate it. Any plugin that adds code to the footer works the same way.
Paste the snippet into the Footer box
Go to Code Snippets → Header & Footer, paste the snippet into the Footer box and click Save Changes.
Check it’s live
Open your site in a private or incognito window. The chat bubble appears in the corner you chose, and opens by itself unless you turned auto-open off. Send a test question, then find the conversation in your Leads inbox.

Install in your theme’s footer.php
For classic themes only. Block themes, which you edit in the Site Editor, have no footer.php, so use option 1.

Open the theme file editor
Go to Appearance → Theme File Editor and pick footer.php from the theme files list. Some hosts switch this editor off; if you can’t see it, use option 1.
Paste just before </body>
Find the closing
</body>tag near the end of the file, paste the snippet on the line above it and click Update File.Check it’s live

Theme updates remove it
Updating a theme replaces its footer.php, and the snippet goes with it. Add it to a child theme instead, or use option 1, so it survives updates.
WordPress.com
On a WordPress.com site
WordPress.com sites can add plugins on paid plans only. WordPress.com’s support pages say plugins are available on all paid plans: Personal, Premium, Business and Commerce. On a paid plan, follow option 1. (Checked 28 September 2026.)

What the chat does on a WordPress site
- Answers visitors from your business profile (services, prices, hours and locations) and only about your business.
- Replies in the language the visitor writes in, day and night.
- Can ask for a name and email before the chat, and a phone number when someone books. Switch each off if you prefer.
- Takes booking requests, emails you the details and marks the conversation as booked in your Leads inbox. It doesn’t sync with a calendar.
- Shows your packages as cards with a Book button, and an Open in Google Maps button for your address.
- Matches your brand: name, colours, avatar, welcome message and which corner it sits in. It renders in its own shadow DOM, so your theme’s styles don’t change it and it doesn’t change your theme.

Troubleshooting
If the chat doesn’t appear
- Clear your caching plugin’s cache, and your host’s cache if it has one, then reload in a private window.
- If an optimisation plugin delays, defers or combines JavaScript, exclude the Convoro snippet or widget.js from those settings. Delayed scripts may only load after the visitor scrolls or clicks.
- A security plugin may block scripts from other domains. Allow https://www.convoro.org.
- The widget is switched on: the switch at the top of Website Widget should read “Live on your site”.
- You pasted the snippet from your own dashboard, so the business ID is yours.
- You’re checking the live site in a private window, not an editor preview.
- An ad or script blocker in your browser isn’t hiding it.
- If your site sets a Content Security Policy, it allows https://www.convoro.org for scripts and connections.
- If the chat appears twice, the snippet is on the page twice. Remove one copy.
